MY HISTORY, EDUCATION + TRAINING

QUALIFICATIONS

I am a Certified Counsellor who is Compassionate Inquiry informed. I also hold an advanced diploma in addictions, courses related to somatic therapies, trauma, EMDR (Eye Motor Desensitization and Reprocessing), Ego State Therapy, polyvagal theory, and parts work.

I hold a B.Sc. (Kinesiology- with a focus in ergonomics) . As a lifelong learner, I have also taken dozens of movement related courses. These include training in core, balance, dry land sport, injury rehabilitation, healthy heart (cardiac), aging populations,Pilates, yoga and qi-gong.

In addition, I have training in soft touch and no-touch somatic therapies.  These included Craniosacral, energy therapies such as Healing Touch and Reiki, expressive therapies related to healing emotional injuries, and sound therapy.

CAREER HISTORY

My early work life included being an outdoor worker, then to a career as a paramedic with sidelines into kinesiology/injury rehabilitation, leadership coaching and now into counseling and more somatic therapies.

Along the way I pursued a passion for plant medicine, something I always want to think is my grannie’s blood coming through. I also want to honor my Dad by remembering being Cree Metis in cultural practises and living the teachings he shared. These passions continue to fuel my learning and my practice every day and I am grateful to live so close to nature, where I am able to discover and choose many healing plants from my own backyard during my walks.

PHILOSOPHY

“I consider all persons to hold inherent wisdom and resilience to face the many challenges that occur in our lives.  I feel privileged when a client chooses my services for support, listening or to help them learn a little more about their body”
